I am going to start this report as I finished the last one
congratulating the girls on the relays at Stanley
Park even though the marshals sent our new runner the wrong way and our
experienced runner the same. This meant that our ‘B’ team got disqualified. We had a great day; the weather remained
dry just about, though for me it was dry inside sorting the registration and
the results whilst getting a bird’s eye view of the start and finish. It was
nice to see
On a personal note I am glad to have started running again albeit
not very far and certainly not fast but it is just nice to get out in the fresh
air rather than marshalling. I did the Rudolph
Run in December, in fancy dress
of course but as a run with Tracey no racing as the back is still far from okay
but ‘slowly slowly catchy the monkey’. I just hope 2010 is kinder.
Since the last magazine the girls are getting back up to strength
with Sarah flying up the hills and Tracey pounding the roads and both
achieving fabulous results. I must also welcome the new members April, Stacey, Tanya and Cathy - it is great to have you aboard.
I hope you enjoy doing your training
with us and achieve what you want from your running. Feel free to ask any of
the members for help and advice if you want it. Someone will always have an
answer for you.

We have now had our main event of the year the Wesham 10k which was a great day. The weather was kind, windless
and dry except for the bit of rain we had at 7.30am whilst putting up the
tents, typical! It was a fairly busy day for me which
started the night before making butties for the marshal’s bags but with the
help of Tracey we had it done in
double quick time. It was my first appearance at this race and I had no idea
just how much organising went into it on the day. It was incident free except the bottle neck I
was causing giving the freebies out to the finishers with the help of Julie, Pauline and little Becky. The funnel kept getting full - too many finished at
the same time. The day was long but it didn’t finish there we had to get the
glad rags out for the party at Ribby
Hall which was a huge success thanks to Derek and Celia.
On a personal note I would like to say I am honoured that our Chairman would consider me worthy of
the ‘club member of the year’ award which
I was delighted to have received, it did come as a shock because I never even
considered that I would be a candidate for such an item.
Until the next magazine, bye for now.
