The fifth Mid-Lancs fixture took us back to a rarely used venue which although in a park setting was an interesting course with some testing uphill pulls and muddy sections. The sunny, wind-less day gave a hint of spring in the air to lift the spirits.
Four Wesham ladies ran and it was good to see Emma Lund returning for her first Mid-Lancs to lead the ladies home in 30th place overall. Kath Hoyer placed highly to finish in 55th place followed by stalwarts Jenn Thompson (76th) and Kerry Eccles (83rd).
Dave Waywell finished 4th Vet 70 with a competitive run over the shorter Women’s course.
For the men, Steve Swarbrick returned with an excellent 10th place and 2nd V40. Dave Taylor was next in with a creditable 33rd place. John Collier was 3rd finisher in 107th place as Steve Myerscough (133rd) had earlier in the morning completed a 13-mile training run as part of his London marathon preparations. Martin Bates had a steady run to finish in 146th position and it was good to see Jonathan Lawson (154th) make a cameo appearance and finish 6th counter. Ben Wrigley (165th) was the final Wesham finisher.
Thank you and well done to all who took part, and to Alex and Nigel for their support and to Tracey for the brews and scrumptious cakes.
