Wrapped up well against Storm Deidre the trio warm up with their post-race snifters.

Kath Hoyer was the only Wesham runner at the final Hurst Green Turkey Trot trail race mid-way up the Ribble Valley on Saturday in horrendous conditions completing the course 159th woman and 12th W55 in 1:18:44, placing 298th overall. The start had to be moved due to sheet ice over the course.

The second Mad Bull Torchlight run from Rivington saw atrocious icy conditions heading up to the pigeon tower and times were greatly slowed over the 5 miles. Steve Gore finished 2nd in a time of 45:47 having been overtaken by Andy Staveley of Burnden Runners on the treacherous descent. Pauline Eccleston finished 4th woman in 1:13:52 in 24th place overall, 2nd W45, and Anne Berry was next placed in 5th and 25th overall with the same time, 1st W55.

Rob Danson ran a duo with Wrea Green’s Stuart Robinson at the Lytham Hall parkrun on Saturday morning in dark and windy conditions. To pair scorched round the course to take the fastest time of the day, 17:05, scoring an age graded score of 75.51% for Danson and 79.32% for the M35 Robinson. Graham Cunliffe was back on the track with 27:50 after several weeks off with a troublesome calf recording an M60 age grade of 58.62%. Julie Rooney had a great run to clock 30:26 for W40 51.70%. Nigel Shepherd took on some parkrun tourism with a visit to Woodhouse Park in northern Leeds, and he ran a good 20:34 for an M60 grade 77.96%. Tracey Hulme made it 6 weeks out of 7 at the South Manchester run in Platt Fields, running 23:26 for W55 77.24%. This left 2 Wesham runners at the Preston run in Avenham Park, with Steve Myerscough getting back to speed with 21:12 for M45 66.90%. Robert Brown recorded 26:08 for M60 61.93%. Steve Pike was out in Victoria Park in St Helens and he ran 27:46 for M40 50.30%. Carl Groome and Sue Rigby were in Chester, with Carl running 32:22 for a modest M50 45.55% with Sue just behind in 32:23 with W45 49.05%. Emma Lund nipped round the Lancaster Ashton Memorial in Williamson Park on the two laps for a time of 23:28 and W35 63.71%. The big numbers for Wesham this week were in the Blackpool Stanley Park run with Jonathon Sanderson heading the squad in 21:55 with an age grade of 58.86%. Helen Lawrenson ran the second fastest women’s time of the morning in 22:03 for W45 75.13%. Stephen Browne clocked 23:19 for M50 grade of 64.83%, with Dave Marsland running an M60 68.33% with a time of 24:06. Sharon Cooper ran 24:31 with a W45 grade of 64.70%. Suzanne Leonard clocked 25:00 for W45 65.47% with George Kennedy in tow also with 25:00 and an M60 age grade of 64.73%. Further up the road in the Fleetwood Promenade run Peter Cruse clocked 20:35 with an M55 75.30%. Martin Bates ran 24:01 with an M60 67.94%, and Brian Jones had 32:33 with M55 48.03%. The Wesham parkrun tourist regulars were at Fletcher Moss in Didsbury, Manchester where David Taylor clocking the second fastest time of the day with a swift 18:13 for an age grade of 71.36%. Steven Gore ran 19:44 for M35 67.65% with Vicky Gore clocking a W40 56.47% with a time of 27:27.
