 Descending out of the mist on Snowdon

The Wesham Road Running Championship continued at the closing race in the Kendal 10k Series at Endmoor on Wednesday evening. Paul Gregory led the Wesham team through the severely undulating course finishing 6th in the race in a time of 42:32 to place 2nd M40. Carl Groome was one place behind in 6th with 43:30 taking the 1st M45 slot. Helen Lawrenson finished 4th woman and 2nd W45 in 47:57 15th overall with Phil Leaver 1st M60 in 21st place in 51:10 in his final race in this age category. Kath Hoyer was 11th woman and 2nd W55 in 53:14 in 27th place with Kay Twist 16th and 33rd in 57:08, 5th W45. Antionette Holton was 19th woman and 38th in 61:51 and Dave Waywell 39th in 62:30. Sue Rigby came in 40th with 70:48.

On Thursday evening the next event in the Supper Run series took place on the 4-mile Caldervale course, with Dave Taylor finishing 4th in 22:16 on the hilly loop through Oakenclough. Charles Colby was 30th in 27:27 with Vicky Gore 66th in 32:41 accompanied by Steven Gore just a fraction behind in 67th and also 32:41.

On Saturday Paul Carter took in the Holme Howler 10k in Carnforth featuring several sections of obstacles and he finished 75th in 63:57.

Sunday saw the gruelling but incredibly scenic Snowdonia Trail Races in Wales. Vicky Gore ran the 10k around the base of the big mountain and she finished 659th in 1:21:14 over challenging terrain. Steven Gore ran the Trail Half Marathon on the Sunday although taking in the summit at 6 miles it was more of a mountain race. With a sting in its tail through the Dinorwic slate quarries he finished 13.5 miles in 20th place3 in a time of 2:32:23, a valiant effort.

Emma Wright took part in the ASDA Foundation Burnley 10k on Sunday and she finished 179th woman and 60th W40 in a big event with a time of 64:58 (chip time 61:37). Neil Gregson ran the Windmill Half Marathon in Lytham on Sunday clocking a time of 1:41:23 for 54th place. Paul Lancashire finished 97th with 1:47:29. In the Pendle Festival of Running 5 Mile Trail Race Ryan Azzopardi finished 20th in 47:50. Kath Hoyer was 4th woman and 2nd Over-50 in 49:17, 27th overall; and Dave Waywell finished 2nd M70 and 77th in 59:05.

In the Lytham Hall parkrun on Saturday morning Paul Hetherington ran 18:26 for an age graded performance of 76.31%. Jason Blagden clocked 21:10 for M45 67.48% and Jonathan Lawson 21:53 for M50 67.40%. Stephen Twist ran 24:58 for M50 59.55%; and Emma Wright ran a new personal best in 27:01 (W40 56.63%). Tessa Robinson ran the second fastest time of the day overall (fastest woman as well) in 18:11 (W35 83.23%). In the Preston run David Taylor ran 18:11 for 71.31%; Nigel Shepherd had 21:18 for M60 75.27%; Robert Brown ran 25:27 for M60 63.59%; and Lynn Brown clocked 35:23 for W55 51.86%. Chris Pike ran the St Helens run in 27:11 for an M40 grade of 51.38%. James Birchall ran the Humber Bridge run in 33:04 for 39.06%, his 5th parkrun in total. Peter and Julie Rooney ran the Colby parkrun near Amroth in Pembrokeshire in a wooded valley; Peter clocking 31:08 for M55 51.07% and Julie 32:06 for W40 49.01%. Peter Cruse was in Northallerton and ran the three-lap course at a leisure centre in 22:19 for M55 69.01%. James Mulvany finished with the 4th fastest time of the day at the Lancaster run in Williamson Park, running 18:41 on the hilly course for an M40 grade of 73.06%. The Gores were in Dolgellau prior to the Snowdonia Trail races and ran 26:40 on a two-lap flat course by the river for W40 58:13% (Vicky). In the Blackpool parkrun lee barlow ran 19:48 for the 4th fastest time and M45 72.14%. Dave Marsland scored M60 71.41% with his time 22:51;  George Kennedy ran 23:54 for M60 67.09%; Andrew Moore had 27:15 and M55 grade of 56.88%; Peter Cooke ran 29:34 for M55 53.78%; Anne Flanagan 33:36 for W60 57.74%; and George Flanagan 38:05 with M65 45.78%.
