Steve Myerscough and Neil Tate in the Fishwick Five on Monday

The Fishwick 5-Mile was the latest in the Wesham Trail Championships on bank holiday Monday morning and David Taylor placed 5th with a time of 31:16 on the undulating course in and out of the Ribble valley towards the Tickled Trout. Steven Gore was 9th in 33:23 having got ahead of Steve Myerscough who came in 10th with 24:23, 2nd M40. Helen Lawrenson was in a close finish with Sarah Ridehalgh just losing 1st place by 2 seconds clocking 36:08. Jason Blagden was 20th in 37:05; Graham Brock 27th in 43:27; Alan Taylor 28th with 43:36; Paul Eccles 29th in 43:39. Dave Young was 1st M65 and 34th in 46:42; Kerry Eccles 10th woman and 2nd W55 in 48:48; Debbie Myerscough 11th and 2nd W50 in 49:11. Paul Carter was 41st in 50:58; Peter Cooke 43rd in 51:14; Julie Rooney 44th in 55:46.

 

Saturday evening saw the first of this year’s Catforth 5k Series and it was popular with Wesham members as in previous years. Steve Waterhouse was to the fore finishing 4th in 17:28 and 1st M45. Steve Myerscough ran well finishing 11th in 18:15 just holding off Garry Barnett in 12th with 18:19, coming in 3rd M40 and 2nd M50 between them. Simon Denye was 17th in 19:33 with Carl Groome 19th with 19:39, 2nd M45. Jason Blagden was 22nd in 19:52, 3rd M45, with Alan Hudson 27th in 20:59 and 1st M65. Sean Murray was 32nd with 21:44 and Ryan Azzopardi 35th in 22:15. George Kennedy and Roger Leadbeater were 2nd and 3rd M55s in 22:28 and 22:49, 36th and 37th, with Tracey Hulme 5th woman and 1st W50 in 38th overall with 23:05. Kath Hoyer was 6th woman and 1st W55 in 23:20, 39th overall with Paul Eccles 40th in 24:03; Mark Dobson 41st in 24:07; Dave Marsland 42nd in 24:17. Kerry Eccles was 9th woman and 2nd W55 in 25:03, 46th, and Diane Blagden 10th and 3rd W50 in 25:15 in 47th place. Robert Danson was 50th in 26:12; Dave Waywell 1st M70 and 54th in 27:40; Vicky Birkett 57th in 27:56; Caz Wadsworth 58th in 29:26; Julie Rooney 59th in 29:31; Sue Rigby 61st in 30:59; Angie Clark 64th with 37:35; Tina Pickervance 65th in 37:36 and Jackie Fox 66th in 38:30.

 

The second race in the Kendal 10k series was held at Levens on Wednesday evening in good conditions. Dave Taylor lead the way for Wesham and came in 3rd place with a time of 37:35, good running on the single lap course which drops to the flat valley floor for the first half and then climbs steadily in the second half before a descent to the finish. Paul Gregory was next to finish in 14th place with 40:41. Jen Salt was 23rd woman, 12th W40 and 83rd overall in 50:39 followed by Phil Leaver in 84th with 51:02 for 7th M60. Chris Moss was 99th with 53:39.

 

Wesham had 4 runners in the first Harrock Hill race on Wednesday evening. Steve Myerscough finished 23rd with 39:55 for the 5.3 miles and 902ft ascent; Steven Gore was 27th in 40:25 having dropped behind on the long climb; Tony Boyle 122nd in 51:53; and Debbie Myerscough 178th with 62:31.

 

Carmel Sullivan finished 32nd woman in the Liverpool Half Marathon on Sunday in 1:34:49 finishing 353rd overall. Vicky Gore finished 578th woman and 2203rd overall in 1:56:03. Jon McLeod ran the Blackpool Promenade 10 Miler, finishing 101st in1:26:44. Karen Davies was 1st W50 and 53rd woman in 1:34:55, 154th overall.

 

Wesham made a good show at the Lytham Hall parkrun on Saturday morning and there were a trio of best performances at the front to show. Arran Galvin ran 19:36 to record an M35 age graded performance of 67.69%, with Jason Blagden running 19:56 for M45 71.15%. Helen Lawrenson ran the second fastest woman’s time for the day of 20:42 for W45 78.26% and John Bertenshaw clocked 20:55 with M60 77.37%. Debbie Bell ran 29:48 for W40 52.40%; Graham Cunliffe 32:40 for M60 49.08%; Christina Pickervance 32:40 for W50 52.60%; Sarah Hobson 42:59 for W40 36.33%; Donna Alexander 45:24 for W55 40.42%; and Helen Leach 49:29 with W45 33.08%. Steve Myerscough kick started his weekend at the Preston run with 19:54 for M40 70.18%; and Robert Brown took 25:53 for M55 61.43%. In the St Helens run Steven Gore took on pace duties and finished on target with 25:08. Megan Gore ran 36:59 for JW10 46.15% with Vicky Gore also 36:59. Martin Bates ran Worsley Woods in 22:01 for M60 72.82%. Ben Wrigley ran Cuerden Valley parkrun in 26:37 for M35 49.84%; Anne Flanagan ran 28:20 in Springburn Park in Glasgow for W55 66.59 with George Flanagan 34:06 for M65 50.10%. David Taylor ran a new best at Newby Bridge with 18:09 2nd fastest today for 71.26% with Luke Robinson a 21:52 debut for 58.99%. Peter Cruse ran Lancaster for an M50 70.52% with 21.36%, and in Blackpool Jonathan Lawson ran 22:33 for M45 64.89% with Dave Young 25:23 for M65 68.68%.
