Challenging conditions in the Inskip Half Marathon



The Inskip Half Marathon was run on Sunday and the runners set off into half an hour of blizzards and driving snow. This didn’t put off the 351 runners though, and there was still a good quality race to be had. Steve Littler made a great comeback to finish 3rd M45 in 1:16:39 and 13th place overall. David Taylor finished 26th in 1:21:43 with Steve Myerscough 65th in 1:28:00. Paul Gregory was close behind in 67th place with 1:28:18. Gemma Owen finished 3rd W35 and 33rd woman in 1:44:34, placing 179th overall. Fran Hodskinson was 83rd woman and 290th overall in 2:00:50, with Heather Buckel 108th and 324th in 2:12:01 with Stephanie Blakeley 112th and 331st with 2:14:35. Peter Cruse was 96th in 1:31:45 finishing 5th M55 overall. Troy Watson returned to action with 1:45:41 with Simon Denye a tentative 209th in 1:48:19 having picked up a niggle. Rob Wallace finished 210th in 1:48:20; Ben Wrigley 216th with 1:48:48; Dave Young was 1st M70 and 286th with an excellent 2:00:18. Paul Carter finished 327th in 2:12:37. Running as pacemakers James Mulvany provided 1:30 pace, Lee Barlow 1:45 and Steven Gore 1:50







A good finish for Paul Gregory at Inskip


Wesham had a good turnout at the Lytham Hall parkrun on Saturday morning in damp conditions. Carl Groome had the fastest time of the Wesham contingent with 19:33 for an age graded performance of 74.85% for an M45. Alex Rowe ran a personal worst time in 20:54 in his 75th parkrun after another month off to achieve M60 76.71% and sportingly paced to the finish by Lytham’s Andrew Draper. Ben Wrigley ran a good 23:15 for M35 57.42% with Sharon Cooper 24:13 for W40 64.97%. Phil Leaver clocked 25:02 for M60 66.38% and Stephen Twist 28:44 for M50 51.74%. Debbie Bell ran 29:41 for W40 53.00%; Sharlan Butcher 30:35 for W40 51.44% and Sue Rigby 30:43 for W40 51.22%. In the Preston parkrun Steve Myerscough stopped the clock at 19:49 for M40 70.98%; Elizabeth Johnson ran 27:16 for W35 55.50%; and Paul Carter 28:00 for M45 51.85%. At Hyndburn Graham Cunliffe ran 33:49 for M60 47.86%. In the Sale Water Park run the Wesham Tourists David Taylor clocked 22:10 for 58.50%; Vicky Gore 30:43 for W40 50.46%; and Steven Gore 30:44. At the Blackpool run Stephen Browne ran 22:34 for M50 66.40%; Dave Marsland 22:57 for M60 71.10%; George Kennedy 24:24 for M60 65.71%; Dave Young 26:37 for M70 66.25%; Tanya Barlow 27:13 for W45 58.91%; and Andrew Moore 28:02 for M55 55.29%.
