Giving it all over the last 0.2km, Rob Danson clocks 30:25in the Ribble Valley 10k
There were two local races to see out 2017 but not many Wesham members were tempted to run this time around. Rob Danson however saw out the year in fine style with a superb new personal best performance at the Ribble Valley 10k. Setting off with purpose he settled into the lead group which featured some of the best athletes in the region including Jonathan Brownlee world class triathlete and approached the finish with a big effort to gain 6th place in 30:25, 36 seconds faster than his previous best last April in Salford. This was also 47 seconds faster than his best time in 2016. This gave him 4th place in the Northern Athletics 10km Championships staged within the race. His racing profile for 2017 shows his rapid rate of improvement at all distances from 5km to the marathon, and virtually all of his results were rewarded with a first place.
