Early morning atmosphere in Krakowskie Blonia parkrun for the tourists
The autumn running of the Cheshire 10k in Arley Hall took place on Saturday and Rob Danson had a great run to finish 4th in 31:05, short of his personal best and he dropped back a step in the 3rd mile, later recovering. He ran isolated with the 3rd placed runner 41 seconds ahead and 5th place 1min 46 behind. Conditions were reasonable after overnight rain. John Bertenshaw had entered as a Wesham member, having since switched allegiance to Lytham, and he finished 123rd and 3rd M60 in 41:19.
An autumn favourite, the Through the Villages 8-Mile road race is a challenge with a constantly undulating route and three or four significant climbs as the route heads from the outskirts of Wheelton through Brinscall, Withnell and Abbey villages. Steve Myerscough was the top Wesham runner finishing 37th in 57:11, 4th M40. Helen Lawrenson was 5th woman and 3rd W45 in 1:01:25, placing 66th overall. Martin Bates finished 124th and 5th M60 in 1:07:59.
Peter Cruse ran the Derwentwater 10 Mile road race from Keswick on a cracking autumnal morning, sunshine and mist, coming in 65th and 1st M55 in 1:08:03. Paul Hetherington was back in action and he finished 91st in 1:09:54.
Kath Hoyer ran the Alinthwaite 8 mile trail race on Saturday over Hampsfell and the Cartmell peninsular near Grange over Sands with 950ft of climb. Kath ran 1:17:03 to finish 55th and around 12th woman, age category result not available.
In the Lancaster Half Marathon on Sunday Daniel Shaw finished 25th in 1:27:36 with a good run. Dave Young was 227th and 2nd M70 in 1:53:22. Chris Whitlock and Heather Buckle came in 425th and 426th in 2:22:47.
The Wesham parkrun tourists went all the way to Krakow in Poland for this week’s run on a good single lap course, with David Taylor recording the 4th fastest time of the week with 18:08 for 71.51%. Steven Gore had the 10th fastest time with 19:18, a cracking run to show M35 68.74%. Megan Gore ran 34:31 for JW10 49.44% with Vicky Gore running the same time. Phil Leaver was the fastest Wesham runner at the Lytham Hall parkrun on Saturday morning, recovering steadily from broken ribs following a bike fall; he ran 26:04 for an M60 age graded performance of 63.75%. Martyn Taylor recorded 27:41 for M60 58.94%; Andrew Moore 27:59 and M55 54.91%; Debbie Bell ran 30:47 with W40 51.11%; and Abi Stones 34:32 for 42.95%. In the Preston parkrun Steve Myerscough clocked 19:03 for M40 73.84%; Robert Brown ran 25:33 for M60 62.75%. Martin Bates returned to the Worsley Woods run for a time of 23:25 and M60 performance of 69.11%. Emma Lund ran the Lancaster run at the Ashton Memorial Park and she clocked 26:13 for 56.83%. In Blackpool’s Stanley Park Carl Groome ran 20:36 for M45 70.47%; Rob Wallace 23:55 with 53.94%; Dave Marsland 24:30 with M60 66.05%; Dave Young 25:05 for M70 70.30%; Tanya Barlow 26:31 for W45 60.47%; and Sue Rigby 30:22 for W40 51.81%.
