Ryan Azzopardi climbing up Avenham Park in the Run Preston 10k

Rob Danson ran a big new personal best in the Berlin Marathon to break the 2:30 margin. With 2:38:37 he took 8:21 off his previous best from the 2015 London Marathon. He finished 89th in the German capital with a good even time split with a marginal slowing in the 5k leading up to the 40k mark. Carmel Sullivan finished 12th W50 with a time of 3:17:35 having taken 3:43 to cross the start line, with her best performance since 2010 with her personal best at 3:11:17. She was 295th woman, overall position not given.

 

There were four Wesham runners in the Nottingham Robin Hood Half Marathon on Sunday. David Taylor was 67th in 1:25:43, with Garry Barnett 89th and 1st M50 in 1:27:16. Nicola Unsworth was 9th W45 and 596th overall in 1:44:37 with her chip time at 1:42:33 (645th). Vicky Gore having tripped and hurt her foot at 7 miles soldiered on and finished 2862nd in 2:17:06, with a chip time of 2:13:14 (3515th). The relative slow times were due to the hilly and twisty nature of the course but the weather conditions were very favourable.

 

Helen Lawrenson was 1st W45 in the Run Preston 10k on Sunday with a time of 42:18, 75th overall and 4th woman with an excellent run. Ryan Azzopardi was 211th with 48:05 and Robert Brown was 339th in 52:25, 7th M60. Ben Wrigley finished 342nd in 52:29; Dave Marsland was 465th in 55:59; Paul Carter 475th in 56:13; Julie Rooney 817th with 1:04:31; Caz Wadsworth 853rd in 1:05:27; Lynn Brown 951st with 1:09:39; and Michael Kearney 1175th in 1:39:21. Elliot Costello ran the 5km and finished 29th in 23:38 having been directed off course at one point, with Jonathan Sanderson 54th in 24:47. Elizabeth Johnson finished 89th with 27:35 and Paul Carter who went on to run both the 2k and 10k races 176th in 31:54.

 

Stuart Topping ran the Southport 10k and he finished 168th in 49:05 (48:54 chip time).

Kath Hoyer was 7th woman and 1st W55 in the Stainland Trail Race near Halifax with a time of 1:03:21 over a challenging 10k multi terrain course through woodland and country lanes. Dave Waywell was 1st M70 and 93rd overall in 1:11:57.

 

Ben Wrigley was the fastest Wesham runner in the parkrun in Lytham Hall on Saturday morning, clocking 23:32 for an M35 age graded performance of 56.73%. Graham Cunliffe ran 29:26 for M60 54.98%, with Debbie Bell on tail runner duties with a 52:43 at walking pace. In the Preston parkrun Stuart Topping warmed up for the Southport 10k in 20:35 for an M45 69.39% performance; Jason Blagden 20:46 with M45 68.78%; Robert Brown 26:09 with M60 61.31%; and Paul Carter preparing his way for his Run Preston trio with 29:31 for M45 48.79%. Jenn Thompson ran the Southport run in 28:26 for an W35 53.46%. Lee Barlow ran the Tilgate run in Crawley in Sussex clocking 18:38 for M45 76.12% ; Tanya Barlow ran 26:50 for W45 59.75%. James Mulvany was in Shrewsbury and he posted 18:00 for 4th fastest time of the day with an M35 75.28%. The dashing Robin Hood squad took the opportunity to run the Sherwood Pines parkrun with David Taylor posting the fastest time of the day with 18:49 for 68.73%. Garry Barnett was 3rd fastest in 19:41 for M50 75.53% and Steven Gore 20:31 with M35 64.66%. Megan Gore returned JW10 44.10% with her time of 38:42 with Vicky Gore in support with 38:43. At home in Blackpool Sean Murray ran 22:57 for M35 57.44%; Rob Wallace 24:37 with 52.40%; Dave Young 27:04 and M65 64.41%; and Andrew Moore 31:02 for M55 49.52%. Martin Bates was at Worsley Woods running 23:56 for an M60 66.99%.
