Paul Hetherington makes a splash in the Yarrow river at full charge

The big event for Wesham members this week was the Yarrow River Splash 10k Trail Run in the yarrow Country Park south of Chorley. Won by Gareth Booth of Horwich in 42:18 this was a challenging and testing course.
Lee Barlow and Paul Gregory were neck and neck throughout the race, with Barlow coming in 23 seconds clear in 45:04 for 4th place and 2nd M45, and Gregory 5th in 45:27. Steve Myerscough took the M40 win in 45:58 in 7th place overall. Paul Hetherington finished 10th in 47:37 and 3rd M40 despite a fall early on that gave him a fractured bone. Steven Gore finished 11th in 48:11, with Jason Blagden 16th and 3rd M45 in 50:27. Helen Lawrenson was 4th woman and 1st W45 in 52:13 for 23rd place. Mark Renshall finished 33rd in 53:03. Kath Hoyer was 12th woman and 2nd W55 in 59:05 in 61st place overall, just 25 seconds behind the first W55. Sharon Cooper came in 16th woman and 73rd in 1:03:11 (4th W40) with Vicky Gore 17th and 74th in 1:03:15, 5th W40. Rob Wallace finished 76th with 1:03:22 and Robert Danson 77th in 1:03:23. Diane Blagden was 24th woman and 2nd W50 in 1:06:52 in 93rd place with Tanya Barlow 30th woman and 6th W45 in 1:08:03 running in with Maureen Danson who was 4th W50 and 31st with the pair 101st and 102nd overall. Dave Waywell finished 108th and 1st M70 in 1:10:04; Debbie Myerscough 5th W50 and 33rd woman and 110th in 1:11:00. Kerry Eccles was 35th and 115th (4th W55) with 1:11:57; Victoria Birkett 39th and 124th in 1:13:28; Anne Berry (6th W55) and Pauline Eccleston were 44th and 45th (130th and 131st) in 1:14:41; Caz Wadsworth (7th W50) and Julie Rooney were 69th and 70th (159th and 160th) in 1:21:33
John Bertenshaw ran the English Half Marathon in Warrington on Sunday and he finished 157th with a chip time of 1:30:00, gun time 1:30:03. He placed 4th M60.
In parkrun action on Saturday morning Nichola Unsworth ran the Edinburgh parkrun with 530 other runners and she clocked 21:16 for a W45 age graded performance of 76.18%. In the Lyme Park run on the top of the moors at Disley down towards Buxton the travelling Gores ran, with Steven scoring 22:22 for M35 59.31%; Megan Gore JW10 43.01% with 39:41 with Vicky Gore in attendance with 39:42. There was a big showing at the Blackpool run in Stanley Park, with Lee Barlow run in the 5th fastest time of the morning with 18:18 for M45 77.50%; Dave Taylor 18:40 for 69.29%; Peter Cruse 19:36 with M55 78.40%; Helen Lawrenson fastest woman in 20:09 for W45 80.40%, on great form at the moment; Carl Groome 20:35 with M45 70.53%; Jonathan Lawson 22:22 for M45 65.42%; Michaela Dempsey 24:42 with W50 68.69%; Robert Brown 24:45 with M60 64.78%; Dave Young 24:50 for M65 69.83%; Debbie Bell 29:52 for W40 52.68%; Sue Rigby 31:18 with W40 50.27%; Lynn Brown 32:02 (W55 57.28%); and Kerry Eccles 39:32 for W55 45.19%.
