The 4th race of the Astley Park Trail series over 4.6 miles of parkland and woodland trail on Wednesday evening saw a good Wesham team staging the next leg of the new club trail running championship. Steve Myerscough had the fastest time finishing 30th in 28:10 placing 12th M40. Mark Belfield was 48th in 29:57 with Jason Blagden 66th in 30:57. Helen Lawrenson was 2nd woman and 1st W40 in 30:17, 52nd overall; Vicky Gore was 53rd and 212th overall in 39:26; Maureen Danson 66th and 230th with 40:37; Pauline Eccleston 68th and 233rd in 41:00; Nicola Ball 75th and 244th in 42:08; Anne Berry 85th and 245th in 42:10; Julie Rooney 85th and 259th in 53:38; and Debbie Myerscough 86th and 260th in 43:42. Stuart Topping finished 72nd in 31:20; Ryan Azzopardi 154th with 35:24; Peter Rooney 178th in 37:32; Alan Taylor 182nd in 37:37; Dave Young 190th in 38:04; James Danson 227th in 40:11.
In the final Cuerden Valley Badger 10k on Thursday evening Paul Gregory finished 11th in 41:58 and Carl Groome was 29th in 45:24, coming in 4th M45.
Steven Gore ran the Worsthorne Moor Race on Sunday and he finished 36th in a time of 51:31 for the 7 miles and 900ft of ascent.
The Riverside 10 mile race in Lancaster saw three Wesham members competing. Peter Cruse finished 31st winning the M55 category in his first race in this age group, with a time of 1:06:50. Carmel Sullivan was 8th woman and 1st W50 in 1:15:42 for 76th place overall. Robert Wallace ran 1:29:29 for 151st place.
In the Lytham Hall parkrun this week Phil Leaver was the first finished for Wesham, in 24:08 for an M60 age graded performance of 68.85%. Kay Twist was next with 26:09 for a W45 grade of 61.95%. Graham Cunliffe ran 28:12 for M60 57.39%; Debbie Bell 30:09 for W40 52.18%; Stephen Twist 30:53 and M50 47.76%. Ellen McKeown ran a debut JW10 48.91% with a time of 35:53 with John McKeown 35:54. Martin Bates was at the Bolton parkrun in Leverhulme Park and he ran 23:52 for M60 67.18%. In the Preston parkrun Arran Galvin clocked 19:58 for M35 66.44%. Robert Brown ran 25:43 for M60 62.35% with Lynn Brown 34:34 for W55 52.36%. On Hampstead Heath Finlay McCalman took the advantage of his trip to the World Championships to run 31:01 for M50 48.74%. In Oldham Vicky Gore ran 26:38 for W40 57.76%; Megan Gore 34:59 for JW10 48.79% and Steven Gore 35:00. John Bertenshaw returned to the Hyde parkrun and took the M60 course record in 21:00 for 77.06%. David Taylor was in Catterick and he ran 18:25 for 70.23%. Mark Dobson took in the Lancaster run clocking 27:00 for M50 55.99%. In Blackpool Carl Groome scored 20:27 with M45 70.99%. Nicola Unsworth was the fastest woman of the day with 21:45 for W45 74.48% with Michaela Dempsey 24:08 for W50 70.30%. Chris Pike had 24:08 for M40 57.39%; Sue Rigby 30:57 with W40 50.83%; George Kennedy 32:00 for M55 49.69%; and Graham Brook clocked 35:52 for M50 41.45%.
