Conditions were perfect for running up and down the Blackpool Promenade and the Golden Mile in this year’s 10k Fun Run and Steve Littler stamped his authority on proceedings finishing 2nd in 33:23 as just 13 seconds separated the leading three finishers. Simon Denye put down the hammers to cross the line 6th in 35:32 with Thomas Crabtree and Chris Hastwell running in 4 seconds apart in 38:03 and 38:07. Arran Galvin finished 33rd in 39:39 and Lee Nixon 75th with 42:27. Sean Murray was 84th in 42:56 and Thomas Farquhar 108th with 43:50 coming in with Rob Wallace 109th and Elliot Costello 110th in 43:53 and 43:55. Alan Hudson was 143rd in 45:08 Sara Ward finished 236th in 47:43 and Ryan Azzopardi 265th in 48:20 and Dave Marsland 268th in 48:22 and Ben Wrigley 269th with 48:23. Sharon Cooper was 272nd in 48:30 with George Kennedy 283rd and Suzanne Leonard 284th in 48:47. James Danson was 286th in 48:49 with Stuart Topping providing the pace at 48:49 in 287th place. Peter Rooney was 290th in 48:51 with Kath Hoyer 307th in 49:19. Fran Hodskinson was 489th in 53:28 and Stephen Twist 616th in 55:08 and Kay Twist 619th with 55:10. Dave Young was 651st in 55:41; Peter Bartlett 684th in 56:08 Emma Davies 693rd in 56:17; Sharlan Butcher 783rd in 58:09; James Birchall 908th in 60:02; Dave Waywell 973rd in 60:54.
Rob Danson won the Kendal 10k on Wednesday evening smashing the previous course record with a mighty 32:10 on the undulating out-and-back course and winning by a big margin of 1:43. The first of this year’s 4-race series David Taylor was 9th in 37:02 with a good clocking; Paul Gregory finished 13th in 38:19 and Andrew Harling was 15th in 38:28 and the Wesham team had packed well but Helm Hill beat them to the team honours. Garry Barnett was 1st M50 and 17th overall in 38:58 and Lee Barlow 20th in 39:26. Steven Gore finished 27th with 40:27; Maureen and James Danson were 90th and 91st in 55:20 and 55:21; and Peter Bartlett finished 99th with 58:17.
Garry Barnett finished 1st M55 in the hilly Blacksticks Blue 10k road race from Inglewhite finishing in 39:11 in 7th place. Steve Myerscough was 48th with an easy run after a busy three days in 45:31. Finlay McCalman was 136th in 54:58; Paul Carter 200th in 62:29; and Debbie Myerscough 216th in 65:50.
Martyn Allison ran the Wigan Trail 10k and he finished 141st in 52:49 and Jo McCaffery was 199th with 57:13. Wesham members were spread widely again at last week’s Saturday morning parkruns. At the South Manchester run in Platts Field Tracey Hulme ran 23:27 for a W55 age graded performance of 77.19% and this week’s highest percentage. At Worsley woods in North West Manchester Martin Bates had 22:47 for M60 71.62%. Further afield Anne Knowles clocked 36:35 at the Sherwood Pines parkrun in Nottinghamshire, and at Southport’s Kew Woods course David Taylor ran the fastest time of the day with 18:18 for an age grade of 71.04%, with Vicky Gore running 26:34 for W40 58.78% and Steven Gore 26:35 (M35 50.22%). Back at home at Lytham Hall parkrun Ian Garrod made a return to running after a bike accident left him with two broken ribs, here running a fine 21:06 for an M55 age graded performance of 74.09%. Keith Wilding recorded a new personal best performance with 23:15 for an M60 age grade of 69.61%. Graham Cunliffe continued his good form with 23:54 for M60 68.27% and Colin Smy ran 25:03 for M35 54.09%. Elizabeth Johnson clocked 25:58 with a W35 grade of 58:54, and Finlay McCalman recorded 26:07 for M55 58.84%. Graham Brook clocked 29:26 for M50 51.36% and Debbie Bell 37:44 for W45 42.09%. in the Preston parkrun Steve Myerscough was getting back to shape after his London Marathon run with 22:07 for an M45 grade of 64.13%. Ben Wrigley clocked 23:14 with M35 57.89% and Stuart Clayton returned 26:27 with an M50 percentage of 56.21. Lynn Brown ran 39:13 for W55 47.43%. and back on the coast at the Blackpool run in Stanley Park Dave Marsland ran 26:37 for an M60 grade of 61.87% and Stephen Browne 27:59 for M50 54.02%. Along Fleetwood Promenade Peter Cruse coasted to a good 21:06 for an M55 grade of 73.46% with George Kennedy returning a new personal best with 21:15 for an M60 grade of 76:16 in his 100th run. Suzanne Leonard ran 23:25 for W45 70.75% and Mark Renshall 33:55 with an easy M45 41.82%.
