WRR Competitive Miles 2008 – 09

Small beginnings – Miles to date December 2008

It is early days but already we have 76 competitive members, and we have just topped our first 1000 miles with 1067.9.

This has involved 13 races, starting just 1hr 10 minutes after the last finisher in the Wesham 10k crossed the line to complete last year’s Competitive Miles.

·         Peter Waywell tops the list with 55 miles after just two races: come on!

·         George Flanagan is second with 48.2 miles, following up a marathon with a further three races all in three weeks; where’s the recovery?

·         Nigel Shepherd is third with 33.1 because he never stops racing!

·         Mick Edge is determined to beat Carmel and comes in fourth with 31.2 miles.

·         And Lee Barlow is inspired and comes up fifth with 30.2 miles.

Carmel, Kath and Michaela are the first three women with 29.2, 29.1 and 27.2 miles apiece, - how close is that?  They are at a disadvantage though at this time of year with the shorter distances in the women’s cross country races.

We have had 31 runners in the December Handicap and 36 in the Rudolph Red Nose Race.

The races so far in December are:

Mid Lancs XC Liverpool

Bolton by Bowland Fell Race

David Staff Fell Race

Mid Lancs XC Blackpool

The Best 5k Fun Run

Round Rotherham 50

Cheddleton 10K Staffordshire

Longridge 7

Winter Handicap

Great Langdale Xmas Pud 10K Sunday

Lanzarote Marathon

Rudolph’s Red Nose 5

Guy's 10 Mile Road Race

So far this is just an early view of December’s miles, for you to put your feet up in front of the fire over Christmas, round off this year and begin planning next year’s campaign.

I will need some sort of verification process so I will probably publish everyone’s miles month by month up to October 2009. If I have missed any of your races then please let me know.

The recording of Competitive miles for 2008 – 09 ends after the Wesham 10K in November 2009.
