THURSDAY WRINKLY RUNS
In the early days most of the runs were just around the Fylde, only occasionally venturing out
to the Garstang area.
At the same time as we four were meeting up on Thursday’s, another group of four
namely Brian Wilkinson, Keith Gresty,
Doug Brown and Les Ward, were
meeting up on Tuesday each week, for
a run in the hills, mainly on the Lakes and North Yorkshire fells.
Whilst we are on the subject of fells, here is a question
for you, which is the most southerly fell in the

the two groups decided to meet up together each Thursday. It was at these early stages that that we started to
venture further afield.
At the turn of the Millennium
the group had grown and was regularly turning out with a dozen or more runners,
each Thursday. We were covering
distances of anything between 8 and 12 miles, taking in most parts of Lancashire and the
As the years passed, walkers began joining the group at the
venues, to go for a stroll in the countryside. It is now not uncommon to see 30
or more people attending each Thursday.
In the past year we have ventured into the West Lancashire area around Parbold & Mawdsley, no doubt we will be returning there in 2009.

PS The answer to the most southerly fell question is “Longridge Fell” how many of you got
that right? The others are moors, tors, pikes and hills etc.
