Cross Country Relays, Manchester,

Saturday, 6th October.

I wasn’t able to go to Personchester for the relays today so many of you will be wondering how I can write a report of the event. And most of you know it won’t stop me anyway!! Well, I can’t say it’s going to be easy but I’ll do my best.

Now it is often said, (actually it’s said every time I put fingers to keyboard!), that my reports are works of fiction. The majority of you do not believe my reports so I am writing this for the minority who hang on my every word!!

Capt’n Young didn’t help matters last week. You see he thinks I write my reports in advance. How on earth can I be sure of the facts if I write in advance? I am sitting at my keyboard burning the midnight oil to get this to Brenda before she goes off for another holiday!!

Bright sunshine and warm temperatures made the motorway journey very pleasant, and Cumberland Sausage, chips and beans set me up for a great afternoon’s entertainment. But enough of my trip to see my parents and seeing Carlisle win 4-0; you want to read about the Cross Country don’t you?

Well, we had some of our members there and they all ran as fast as they could. They were a credit to themselves, and to the club. They have all earned points towards the mud, sweat and spikes award.

I do believe, ladies and gentlemen, that the last paragraph is factually correct and does indeed sum up the event. This now makes two reports that are 100% accurate. The last one was another race I couldn’t get to!!

So we’re off to a flying start. Next up is the Mid Lancs fixture at Leyland on October 27th. See you all there.
