Michaela was looking forward to today, but didn’t want to risk two races in two days after doing cross country yesterday at Worden Park.

I set off about two or three rows back from the Start after being told by Andy Yelland I should be even further back! When we set off, I thought maybe Andy was right! I was running beside Kath and some distance behind Alan Taylor and Phil Leaver. Kath and Tim Helmore ticked me off and spurred me into action. Richard Jones, (Garstang) beat me yesterday at cross country and asked me if I’d got a cold! No, I haven’t got a cold! This is the speed I run at nowadays!!!

I started overtaking a few and, as we turned round, I was gaining on Peter Gleaves, but Peter took off, never to be seen again. Gary de Banke, in his first race since the North Fylde Interclub, (5/4/06), also had a good run and was over the moon.

I collected my T-shirt and headed for The Taps pub in the centre of Lytham with Michaela and Pete Gleaves flushed with success at his recent PB. They were serving complementary hot, black pudding, bread and mustard. Needless to say, Dylan loved his doggy bag! (Minus the mustard!)
