Cross Country Invite….

…..here it is again…..no sooner have we packed the tent away and enjoyed a glorious summer, (well OK– maybe not that glorious), but we are again getting all excited for the mud, sweat and spikes season for 07/08!  For all those that have already taken part in cross country you will know what great fun it is – for those that haven’t yet tried it – you’re in for the treat of you life!

Last season was a great year for WRR ladies – we had one of the best turnouts we’ve ever had, and even won Silver medals and got a promotion!  The idea of cross country is that we get as many people as possible to turn up and have fun!  There is no getting away from the fact that the fast runners are the prize winners but each and everyone of us counts – and even more so this year with recognition going to a ‘B’ team as well as an ‘A’ team for the first time!

The 06/07 season saw some great new entrants in Beth De Nobrega, Mandy Hinks, Sarah Sharratt, Carmel Sullivan and Tracy Hulme.  It also saw some of our favourite and regular runners, Marie Wylde, Michaela, (returning from long term injury), the two Julies and Kath Hoyer, (in no particular order!).

We had our lovely new tent to use for changing – it’s got three bedrooms/changing rooms – not quite ensuite, but we do have a toilet roll to co-ordinate with the club vest colours, courtesy of Captain Murphy.  We had tea and coffee making facilities at every venue and we even had two great coach trips to Mansfield and Newcastle.  For those that are after a fun day out, (reminiscent of a school trip), the cross country away days are a must!

This year I really hope all who already know how good cross country is for you will be there again, but I also hope that we have some ‘virgin’ cross country runners too!  The dates for your diaries for the Mid Lancs fixtures, (unless stated otherwise are):
