New notice from Dave Waywell re CLGP 1st June 2010

CENTRAL LANCS GRAND PRIX

Sponsored by VLA Events

Wesham Road Runners have entered this series of races to provide yet another challenge to the members against eight other clubs some of which are smaller than ourselves and some slightly bigger but the challenge for us is to get the number of runners required to make up the teams which is:-

10 for “A” and 8 for “B” teams.

Vets teams constitute 6 runners and Ladies teams are 4 runners.

As an explanation of the above the first 18 Wesham runners to finish would make up the A and B teams. The first six Wesham Vets to finish make up the vets team and obviously the first four ladies to finish the ladies team.

The best six race results count for the individual competition with team places decided on the best eight results.

NOTE:  There is no extra charge to members of the CLGP clubs entering on the day however it is the individual’s responsibility to inform the entries desk recorders of there CLGP status to claim the deduction.

I will ensure entry forms are made available via the club round robin email system and also to notify you all of any league/ individual progress reports I may receive.

For any information there is a site on the Wesham RR website allocated to this league. You will find it on the Contents Menu of the Homepage under Club Competitions.

BADGER SETT RUNS in the Cuerden Valley 2010

Thank you for your support of the Lancashire Wildlife Trust. At a time of financial fluctuations the Trust needs its supporters more than ever to help us keep up our good work to protect our flora and fauna which benefits us all, directly or indirectly.  The best way for us to do this is to have guaranteed income and the benefit of your voice in support of our aims.  This is why I am urging you to join us if you are not already a member of the Trust; it costs as little as £2/month (the cost of a pint of beer or glass of wine!) and gives so much.

With our fantastic new nature reserve at Brockholes and innovative floating visitor centre due to open spring 2011 you can get the inside track on developments and learn more about us and our work throughout the region, the old county boundary of Lancashire.  Subscribe to updates at Brockholes@lancswt.org.uk.  Brockholes will represent a microcosm of habitats which we used to have in Lancashire.  A visit will definitely be a day to remember.  So please do something worthwhile today and join us http://www.lancswt.org.uk/index.php/join-us.php

I would also like to add your name to our e-bulletin list to allow you to receive news of the Trust; if you are happy for us to do this please email Sally Handscombe shandscombe@lancswt.org.uk with the Subject Title – PLEASE KEEP ME INFORMED.

And finally, the last of the 2010 Badger runs went without a hitch last night with a record attendance of 199 runners – we couldn’t quite make the magic 200……..next year perhaps.

Regular runners Gary Pennington, Preston Harriers and Sarah Ridehalgh, Accrington Road Runners took the honours; but credit should go to Gwen Kinloch of Blackburn with Darwen BC who came 2nd as a FV50 and first time Badger runner Evelyn Elkington, FV70 of Red Rose Runners who put in a very creditable performance.

Thanks to all who have participated and made these events such a success. Results are on the Results Section of this website.

Report and photos to follow on our website soon.
