Fell Championship 2010

Well what can I say? The 2009 Fell Championship became a tightly fought, and hopefully, friendly battle for both the ladies and the gents. The main question, can our victorious champions come back and re-claim the glory in 2010???

Sarah Sherratt has a tough battle ahead, for she has many worthy contestants, who can forget Kath Hoyer, who claimed scalps at some of the races last year, then there’s Bernadette Dickinson, who continually dug in over the year and finished a valiant 3rd closely followed by Julie Cruse, not forgetting the 2008 Fell Champ, Joanna Goorney, for she has silently overcome her injury plagued year of 2009 will she overthrow last years victor?

Nigel Shepherd won by sheer guts and determination, to steal the trophy away from Alex Rowe, other warriors in this event included John Sharples who finished in a highly respectable 3rd place.

As if all that wasn’t exciting enough, we have, for the second year running, combined our Fell Championship with the Interclub Fell Champs. This year there are four races so let’s put up a big team performance and have a repeat of last year, success was ours in many quarters!

The rules:

Scoring will be conducted using the same rulings as last year. That is, lowest score based on the best 4 races, 1 point will be awarded for 1st Wesham female/male home, 2 points for second home on so on.

In the event of a tie on points (based on the best 4 races) the actual winner will be decided on the next best score, i.e. their 5th best score, or even the 6th if it has not already been decided by then.

As last year I will be awarding 4 prizes in all, first 2 male and females

So without further a do, let the internal battle commence, and come Wesham lets go into battle and win the Interclub Fell Championship War!
