Dear Members
I can’t believe the
festive season is nearly upon us, once again.
This past year just seems to have flown by but it has been filled with
lots of holidays and events. Peter and I have, once again, enjoyed the Wrinkly Holidays, this time taking us to
As you will see from
the cover, this is the tenth magazine I have edited and published. Each one has
had something different and, as the time has gone on, more members have taken
up their pens/computers and written articles for the magazines. We can always
do with more though, so please get writing. (By the way, I got into a bit of
trouble with one of the cover
photos as I asked Kirsty to come up with a Christmassy piccie of our Club Mascots, (Megan, Emily May and Baby Thomas), and, as per usual, Kirsty was, as always,
willing to take up the challenge. However, Pete said he had to go out and buy the outfits
and at considerable cost to himself!!! Sorry Pete, but I think
you will agree – it was worth it!)
The previous two
editions, (and also this edition), have been quick turn arounds with us having
been on holidays just prior to publication but, with the very efficient services
of the Blackpool and the
Club members, the ladies that is, have been
very busy and we have had three new ‘little’ editions to our fold. May I wish Thomas, Millie and
Wesham RR has just had its Annual Dinner Dance and Presentation Evening which was organised by Derek
Goodenough, (with Celia’s help). This was held in the Rowan Suite at Ribby Hall. You will see
the results of this evening further on in the magazine and on the website. I am
sure you will agree Derek and Celia did a magnificent job and the evening was a great success. Thanks to both of you.
The WRR Website and Magazine has turned out to be
a full time occupation for myself, with the help of Peter, and, much as I enjoy
it, I would like to request a little more support from members. This can be
achieved by either writing articles, taking photographs or finding advertisers
for the magazine. Our present advertisers have been a tremendous support and
those, such as Cleveleys
Photocentre, Sweatshop, Kirkham Health, Simon Hooper, NCR, Alzheimer’s Society and Moondance Travel, have been particularly supportive right from the early days - for which
I offer my sincere thanks and gratitude. Members such as Brian Porter, Steve Littler, Kirsty
Waywell, and Pete
Cruse have also used our magazine to advertise their
services and, I have been told, these adverts have been very successful. May I
also welcome all our new advertisers and thank them for using our magazine to
advertise their firms/businesses. Without these advertisers we could not
produce such a good looking magazine and I hope you, as members, will always
consider them when their particular specialty comes into call.
I am sad to have to
lose, due to personal circumstances, the assistance of Martin as Advertising Coordinator. Martin has done a magnificent job over the last few issues as our advertising
revenue has grown. May I offer him my sincere thanks for all he has done and
wish him well for the future. After posting a Job Requirement on the Website and the Message Board, (this got 95 viewings but no replies!) I am,
however, absolutely delighted to welcome Pete and Kirsty Waywell on board as the new Advertising Coordinators. They are my heroes! Please note members, it is again down to the select few to come forward as Kirsty, as well as being a new
mum, (which is a workload in itself), already does a lot for the club by way of
photographs and Pete with all his organising for race trips etc. I sincerely hope that you
will all give them your support by trying to come up with new advertisers for
them and not leave it up to them to get the new ones as well as dealing with
our present ones. If you
all could just get one advertiser on board then that would be a tremendous
bonus both to me and the club. I always take my magazine shopping with me and,
when the opportunity presents itself, ask the shop concerned if they would like
to place an advertisement with us. I did this with our newest advertiser, The Linen Box at Poulton, who was only too
pleased to offer us his support for which I thank him most sincerely. Anyone
taking on this task would have Pete, Kirsty’s and my complete support and I will still do all the paperwork. Remember,
we are doing this for you so please ask yourself what you can do for us as a club.
Well all it leaves me to say now is that Peter and I wish you all a
wonderful Christmas and a very Happy, Injury Free and Successful New Year.
Fond regards and best wishes
Brenda
