Eleven
reasons why you should run cross country
|
- Races are cheap to enter.
- Usual sub-zero temperatures
mean that you can run without even breaking into a sweat.
- It is a well
known fact that mud is good for the complexion. For best results, let it dry
like an all-over face pack, then either wash or scrape it off.
Alternatively, leave on for a great sun-tanned look.
- Finishing a
race is an excellent excuse for a hot toddy and a long, long beer.
- Cross Country courses are never accurately
measured distances. This means that you can convince yourself and your
friends that you ran a really fast time, whatever you did.
- There is no
need to clean your car all winter - it will only get dirty anyway,
(outside and in).
- Races are normally on a Saturday afternoon which means you
can avoid doing the shopping. Think of the money you will save.
- In Cross Country, it’s the team that
counts. Emphasizing this point can distract from your own terrible performance.
Impress your friends and family by telling them how your club, Wesham Road Runners did, (even if
you were 220th and didn't make the team!).
- It's a perfect opportunity to
wear that really horrible jumper Great
Aunt Ethel made you without looking silly.
- You can take the children and
really wear them out.
- It feels great
when it is over!!
