The
As we reach
the end of another highly successful year in our Club, I thought I would offer a slightly off-beat look at our Committee and others who work so hard
throughout the year to ensure we go from strength to strength.
I’ve added one or two others who also do sterling work throughout
the year:
- First,
there’s our Chairman, Dave, who leads us along the Way well.
- Our Vice
Chairman is Reg. There is
only “vice” in his title. Reg
is a very fine Chap/man
- Our Secretary,
Brian ensures all matters
secretarial are dealt with sharply – that would be Wilkinson sharp!
- Peter is our Treasurer and he looks after the
accounts. He does it very well so there’s no need to Cooke the books
- Lee is our Men’s Captain and he tries to make
sure that before races we keep our activities at the Bar, low.
- Julie is like
Lee. As one of our Lady Captains she tries to keep the ladies off the Murphy’s before races.
- Yvonne is
another of our Lady Captains.
So many ladies, so many captains. Anyway, she’s sure to Russell up a good reason to get
you to run!
- Dave is our Cross Country Captain. He says mud
is good for keeping us looking so Young!
- John is in
charge of Tours and Trips. With so many trips abroad to
sunny places, how come he’s still such a White man??
- Andy has
done a fine job as Race Director.
I know how hard this job is. Enough to make you Yell and scream at times, but so rewarding.
- Howard is our Auditor. He keeps Hens (haw haw!) OK, so he doesn’t
keep hens but I couldn’t think how to fit his name in!
- Earnshaw
is
even harder to work with than Henshaw,
(not the person, just the name!), but it doesn’t hide our gratitude to Brenda for the magazine and web
site, (and Peter of course for
supporting her.)
- Alex looks
after all our Press Reports. He
writes loads but sometimes they delete whole Rowes of it!
- Ian is our Kit Man. He gets prices so good
that he doesn’t need to Cosh us
to buy from him!
- Derek is worth
his weight in gold for his Emmens,
(immense), tea on a Monday night
- Keith and Marian do a great job with the
handicap times and results. Good job they can Rhead!
- George,
Ken and Nedy. Most of you think he is
just one man, but he writes so much for the website there must surely be three of him!
- Martin, and the
anticipated Mrs Bates, for much
the same reason as George, Ken and Nedy.
- Richard,
for
his work with the Competitive Miles.
What a good idea to Davise this.
- Ian, for Marshalling at every handicap.
Even if he does just look at the Evans
above him!
- Ken and Kath, also for all their Marshalling help. You’ll usually
see them so far out in the wilds you’d think they were in the Munroes of
- Then there’s Peter who you will also find out in the Wyld’s Marshalling for the handicap

If I missed
you off this list, I’m sorry. It wasn’t deliberate and it doesn’t make me any
less grateful.
